About this Course

The participant will get an insight into the principles of temple administration along with the best practices for managing the basic building block of ISKCON i.e. a temple or a center. Efficient management of a temple involves operations such as managing events like festivals, Sunday feasts, Pandal program etc., managing limited physical facility for maximum use through proper queuing etc., managing people such as volunteers, staff etc. and managing risk which arises in all the other activities

Aims

  • To help participants understand the principles of good temple management
  • To help participants get an overview of how to manage the basic building block of ISKCON i.e. a temple
  • To help participants understand the job description of a temple president/ center manager and other officers in an ISKCON entity
  • Event Management: To help participants become proficient at organizing events, festivals, retreats etc. for a temple/ congregation
  • Facility Management: To help participants become proficient at effective use of a campus/ building for temple purposes and ensure proper maintenance
  • People Management: To help participants understand the principles & processes of recruiting, keeping and managing volunteers and employees
  • Risk Management: To help participants understand procedures to safeguard temple’s resources- people, buildings, equipment etc. against hazards like fire
  • To help participants understand and apply measures to deal with difficult members of Ashram/ congregation

 

Course Instructors

Gauranga Das

With an undergraduate degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the reputed IIT Mumbai, he is leading the Govardhan Ecovillage Facilities, Nursery and the Green Buildings Construction(CSEB). He has bagged many awards for GEV by presenting the Symbiotic waste management systems followed in GEV in various reputed conferences like CII, SKOCH and FICCI. He is instrumental in bringing up the new Vedic culture and education center in GEV. He is also currently leading the much awaited Vrindavan Biodiversity project at GEV.
